The Honorable Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr.
State Capitol, Suite 1173
Sacramento, CA 95814
Dear Governor Brown,
The City Council of Diamond Bar respectfully encourages you to sign SB 456
(Huff), which was recently passed by both houses of the Legislature. SB 456
will assist local governments and waste haulers in providing the most cost
effective door-to-door collection and transport of household hazardous waste
(HHW) to Treatment Storage and Disposal Facilities.
The City, in conjunction with its waste haulers, are responsible for the disposal
and diversion of residential and commercial refuse, implementation of
recycling programs, and collection and transport of household hazardous
waste. SB 456 would enable the City, in conjunction with its waste haulers, to
provide the most efficient service to our residents by streamlining and in
certain circumstances eliminating the cumbersome case by case review by the
Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). These invaluable door-to-
door programs are extremely cost effective without compromising public health
and safety.
For these reasons, the City of Diamond Bar encourages you to sign SB 456
into law.
Sincerely,
Steve Tye
