Dear Assembly Member Williams:
The City of Diamond Bar respectfully opposes AB 1594, which would place
undue burden on municipalities attempting to meet diversion rates.
The City of Diamond Bar prides itself on trying new innovative ideas to increase
diversion and promote recycling in the community. There are certain programs
that are known to work, including the use of Alternative Daily Cover (ADC) at
Carol Herrera landfills that not only minimizes environmental damage and impacts to public
Mayor health, but provides a diversion boost that promotes green recycling throughout
our economy. Recalculating the use of ADC would place undue burden on
Steve Tye cities to come up with additional programs to offset the ADC diversion decrease,
Mayor Pro Tem at a time when resources are scarce.
