HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 89-85RESOLUTION NO. 89 - 85 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DIAMOND BAR, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE ACHIEVEMENT OF A 'COMPLETE COUNTw FOR THE 1998 CENSUS AND ENCOURAGING ALL CITIES AND COUNTIES TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THE ACHIEVEMENT OF A STATEWIDE "COMPLETE COUNTw WHEREAS, the achievement of a "Complete Count" of all people residing in the City of Diamond Bar and all cities and counties will provide both enhanced financial benefit and appropriate political representation for the jurisdictions within the State; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Diamond Bar has established a "Complete Count" committee for the specific purpose of providing education and promotion regarding the 1990 Census, which Committee will assist and enhance other participating organizations and the Census Bureau's efforts to maximize the success of the census; and WHEREAS, the overall success of the 1990 Census is dependent upon the assistance, encouragement, and cooperation of all residents, and each community's local government is a vital source of assurance and outreach to its residents; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Diamond Bar desires to encourage all cities and counties to emphasize and promote to their residents both the benefits which a complete count will provide and the confidential nature accorded to participation in the Census enumeration process. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Diamond Bar, California as follows: SECTION 1. The Council of the City of Diamond Bar encourages and supports the achievement of a "Complete Count" in the 1990 Federal Census and respectfully requests that all cities and counties in California encourage their residents to both assist in and be responsive to the 1990 Federal Census program. SECTION 2. The City Clerk is directed to transmit copies of this resolution to the Bureau of the Census, local cities, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and other agencies as directed by the Council. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution, and it shall thereupon be in full force and effect. 1989.
