The proposed legislation would allow the State Department of Health Care Services to work with local governments to review applications for facilities that result in overconcentration in residential areas. It is of utmost importance to preserve the integrity of our residential Jimmy Lin neighborhoods and the communities in which we serve. Although sober living Mayor facilities provide valuable rehabilitation and support services in a therapeutic Ruth M. Low environment, placing these facilities within close proximity to one another Mayor Pro Tem could potentially have a negative impact on neighborhoods. We believe local governments should be given an opportunity to help recognize the Carol Herrera overconcentration of such facilities and applaud your effort to put responsible Council Member framework in place that protects local control and addresses the best interests Nancy A. Lyons of our communities. Council Member We appreciate the work that went into developing this proposal. For these Steve Tye reasons, the City of Diamond Bar supports SB 786. Council Member Sincerely, Jimmy Lin Mayor CC: Senator Josh Newman, 29th District, Fax (916) 651-4929 Assembly Member Phillip Chen, 55th District, Fax (916) 319-2155 City Council City Manager Jennifer Quan, League of California Cities, jquan@cacities.org Meg Desmond, League of California Cities, mdesmond@cacities.org Joe A.
