Lyons Council Member Steve Tye Council Member February 15, 2017 City of Diamond Bar 21810 Copley Drive • Diamond Bar, CA 91765-4178 The Honorable Jim Frazier State Capital P.O. Box 942849 Sacramento, CA 94249-0011 Via Fax: (916) 319-2111 Dear Assembly Member Frazier: (909) 839-7000 . Fax (909) 861-3117 www.DiamondBarCA.gov The City of Diamond Bar respectfully supports Assembly Bill 1 (AB 1) and Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), which represent a comprehensive transportation proposal with sensible reforms and infrastructure investments. As a municipal government, Diamond Bar is directly impacted by the investment made in the state highway and local street and road systems. Within our own jurisdiction, the State Route -57 and State Route -60 freeways coincide for a two-mile long stretch, creating congestion, pollution and frequent traffic collisions. This freeway segment has been ranked as the 6th worst freight bottleneck in the Nation by the American Transportation Research Institute, this further recognizes an issue that has national and regional implications. The Cities of Diamond Bar and Industry have worked diligently to secure funding for the SR-57/SR-60 Confluence Project, although there is a need to secure additional funding in order to advance the construction of the remaining mainline improvements. The Southern California region needs a well-developed and maintained transportation network in order to maintain a strong local, regional and national economy. AB 1 and SB 1 will provide comprehensive transportation reform and funding that will provide agencies, such as the City of Diamond Bar, with the necessary means to invest in transportation infrastructure and local road systems. For these reasons, the City of Diamond Bar supports AB 1 and SB 1. Sincerely, Jimmy Lin Mayor CC: Senator Josh Newman, 291h District, Fax (916) 651-4929 Senator Jim Beall, 151h District, Fax (916) 651-4915 Assembly Member Phillip Chen, 55th District, Fax (916) 319-2155 City Council City Manager Jennifer Quan, League of California Cities, jquan@cacities.org Meg Desmond, League of California Cities, mdesmond@cacities.org Joe A.
