Box 942849 Sacramento, CA 94249-0080 FAX: (916) 319-2180 Dear Assembly Member Gonzalez: The City of Diamond Bar respectfully opposes Assembly Bill 5 (AB 5), as the proposed legislation would impose new requirements limiting a municipality's initial ability to best meet an agency's staffing needs. AB 5 would require an employer with 10 or more employees to offer additional hours of work to an existing nonexempt employee before hiring another employee or subcontractor. Employers often face circumstances where hiring Jimmy Lin another employee or subcontractor is beneficial to the agency for a variety of Mayor reasons, such as the specialized nature of the work being performed, timing Ruth M.
