My name is Ahmed Rangoonwala, I live in the Quail Summit neighborhood of Diamond Bar, and I
work at the Institute of Knowledge, a local Non-Profit here in the city of Diamond Bar. Basically I live and
breathe Diamond Bar. Enclosed, please find my application for a commission seat enclosed. I wanted to
write to you today to explain why I am so eager and ready to be selected to serve on a commission, but
also why I am fully qualified to help lead our great city in to the future.
First the Why, I live for public service. I know that it’s not for everyone, but I have always found myself
gravitating towards fields of work that let me always deal with people. From my long history in retail
management, to my current role at a non-profit. I am always looking for ways to serve my community.
Being selected to a commission, would give me the opportunity to serve my home community. Being
involved at the local governmental level has always been a desire I have wanted to pursue. So this is
something that ticks all the boxes of what I am passionate about.
At the same time, I truly understand the importance, and level of responsibility holding a commissioner
seat entails. I in no way take this lightly at all, but truly feel my background fits well and sets me up for
success. My top choice would be the planning commission as I have dealt with developmental planning
on the business end. Looking at forecasts and predictions for growth and success. Though I feel I would
bring something positive to the table on any commission. I have great communication skills, I know how
to communicate effectively to different groups, be it the consumer level (Resident), fellow colleagues
(other commissioners) or to those in much higher positions up to CEO’s (City Council Member). Just
communicating is not enough though, I have worked on some very large regional programs in a group
environment, and when the need or time arises I have taken up leadership roles in these groups.
I want to thank all the members of the city council for going through my application, and giving me the
opportunity to potentially serve on a commission. I can assure you, if selected, I would bring my all to
serve this great city and its wonderful residents.
