Kristina Santana
City Clerk
City Clerk’s Office

Dear Ms. Santana
I am honored to be applying for the position of Commissioner of the Parks and Recreation Commission,
learning about this role and what its duties would entail intrigue me. The reason why I would like to assume this
role is because of the need to further improve our Recreation system and my vested interest in serving the
community of Diamond Bar.
Throughout my life I’ve been deeply involved with the Recreational system within Diamond Bar, everything
from Pony baseball to AYSO soccer, and because of me growing up in Diamond Bar, I understand what it
means to indulge in our incredible Recreational system. As a kid I loved playing baseball and because of our
recreational system it led me to play in high school and eventually win team MVP as a starting pitcher on
varsity for Diamond Ranch High School. My childhood was filled with various recreational activities
constantly, between soccer practice on the weekends to karate lessons at Red Dragon Karate I can confidently
say that this city has given me so much joy and wonderful experiences as an enthusiastic child.
As a deep-rooted member of this city, and a community leader, I want to give everyone the opportunity to dive
into our Recreational system and experience the joys that I was so gracious to have. I believ e my presence as
commissioner would provide a valuable asset to the city, as I understand both the city’s recreational system as
well as the needs of those within the various programs. I can provide a connection between our city officials and
those who engage with our recreational programs, which will ultimately lead to a successful Parks and
Recreation Commission. Thank you for my consideration and I look forward to further communications.
Sincerely,
Zachary Shimokawa
