I’m writing to let you know that the work order for location #38 SB Brea Canyon Cut Off @ Diamond Canyon was completed today (10/23). As of right now, the location is functioning as
expected. When the technician arrived on site, they were able to scrape paint off the camera lens. The LPR has resumed capturing images. As previously mentioned, there will be no fee
associated with this work order.
You had also mentioned that this may be a last-ditch effort with this camera location. If this equipment is targeted again, please let us know so we can help with the next steps. There
is no further action required on this ticket, so I will go ahead and close this out. I hope you have a great rest of your day.

I am glad we are able to schedule a new installation/replacement for this camera. Since this camera has been targeted numerous times, is it possible to coordinate with your LASD lieutenant
to schedule extra patrols or implement other proactive measures to prevent the camera from being vandalized again? I would be happy to discuss it with the lieutenant if you want to

Thank you for the update. I will initiate another work order to get the LPR at #38 SB Brea Canyon Cut Off @ Diamond Canyon replaced. I will also go ahead and waive this replacement
fee, since the LPR we installed on 9/22 was vandalized again in less than a week.
Once the work order is created, I will keep you in the loop regarding when the site visit is scheduled. I am also going to request that the LPR be installed as high as possible without
compromising functionality. I know we have increased the height already in the past, so it may already be at max height, but if there is any more wiggle room, we will take it.

I have an update for you regarding camera location #38 SB Brea Canyon Cut Off @ Diamond Canyon. We had a technician on site to replace this camera on 9/22. After just a few days,
it appears that this camera was vandalized again. The last images captured are dated 9/26, and the lens appears to be blacked out (screenshot attached), which is consistent with the
previous incidents of vandalism.
Based on the history of work orders, it looks like this camera was replaced on 7/9/25, 8/19/25, and most recently on 9/22/25. Each time, we documented that the lens was covered with
black paint. During the 8/19 replacement, our technician installed the equipment above the horizontal beam on the pole, but that did not prevent the next bout of vandalism that occurred
between 9/22 and 9/26.
Next Steps:
Since we are coming up on a potential 4th replacement in less than 3 months at the Brea Canyon Cut Off @ Diamond Canyon location, I have a couple of ideas:
* We could look at relocating this equipment to a nearby area.
* Another option we have seen success with when it comes to avoiding vandalism is to upgrade from a standard LPR to a Long Range LPR.
* Standard LPRs need to be mounted ~12-16 feet off the ground for best performance.
* Mounting above the horizontal arm on a traffic pole is very close to the maximum recommended height
* A Long Range LPR could be installed at or near the top of that traffic pole, which would make the equipment much harder to tamper with.
I'm sorry for the bad news, but I did want to present these options for your consideration. I have also included your CSM, Matthew Nicholass, on this email thread so he is aware of
the ongoing vandalism to camera #38. Please let me know if either of these options interests you, and we can proceed accordingly.

That replacement lens cover is an excellent idea. I will submit this feedback to our Product team for consideration; hopefully, a much more cost-effective solution can be achieved.

some digging, and I'm wondering if it is camera location #38 SB Brea Canyon Cut Off @ Diamond Canyon. Based on past support tickets, it does appear that this location has been vandalized
multiple times, most recently in August.
