City Acquires Property for Future Park
After a year of collaborative efforts with Diamond Bar
PONY Baseball (PONY), the City has officially acquired a
10.23-acre parcel of land for the future development of a
community park.
Known as Stevens Field and located at 22601 Sunset
Crossing Road, the property had been owned and
operated by PONY (previously the Diamond Bar Little
League) since 1969, and has been solely used for youth
baseball games and practices.
A favorite summer tradition of music and movies alfresco
is back at Summitridge Park for another season!
Concerts in the Park and Movies under the Stars will take place for
eight consecutive Wednesdays beginning June 11 through July 30 at
Summitridge Park, located at 1425 Summitridge Drive.
Each event starts at 6:30 p.m. with a concert, fun activities for children,
information booths, and giveaways, and is followed by a movie when the
sun sets, sometime around 8 p.m.
Two of the concerts will include extra festivities – July 2 will offer fun
patriotic-themed activities in honor of Independence Day, and July 30 will
include a public safety zone in observance of Diamond Bar Night Out with
opportunities to meet and talk with local first responders.
Beach chairs or blankets are encouraged, and eventgoers may bring
food and drinks or purchase concessions from onsite food trucks. Both
onsite and nearby street parking is available.
This year’s concert and movie lineup:
June 11 – Radio Royalty (80s hits), and An Extremely Goofy Movie
June 18 – The Dreamboats (hits of the 50s), and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
June 25 – The Silverados (Eagles tribute), and Ice Age
July 2 – The Answer (classic rock), and Garfield
July 9 – Upstream (reggae and Caribbean Island), and The Peanuts Movie
July 16 – Kelly Boyz Band (country), and Despicable Me 4
July 23 – Bumptown (Latin, funk), and Inside Out 2
July 30 – ABBA LA (Abba tribute), and Kung Fu Panda 4
Additional event details, including the list of food and dessert trucks
scheduled to be at each event is available on the City website at

The transfer of ownership, which became official in late April,
came with a deed restriction that ensures the property will remain
a community recreational space in perpetuity. However, without
funding in place to design and develop the site into a park, the
City’s immediate priority is to clean up the site and address a series
of deferred maintenance issues so the ballfields can be used by
PONY and other local youth sports organizations.
Clean-up and maintenance efforts got underway in early May
and include the clearance of overgrown vegetation, dilapidated
structures, and unstable trees; repair of the irrigation system,
improvement of the playing field surface, and installation of site
security measures.
To learn more about the Stevens Field property, visit
www.diamondbarca.gov/stevensfield. Any questions about the
site can be directed to the Parks and Recreation Department at
909-839-7070 or recreation@diamondbarca.gov.

A deed restriction ensures the property will remain a community recreational space in perpetuity.
This project, which is set to start this month and
continue into late September, will rehabilitate
approximately three miles of select roads in
residential areas in the southwest and northwest
areas of the city, as well as approximately
one mile of segments of Lemon Avenue (from
Golden Springs Drive to northerly city limits) and
Brea Canyon Road Cut-Off (from the
57 freeway to westerly city limits).
The type of treatment roads will receive
will depend on their condition, and can
include slurry seal, chip seal, and asphaltic
concrete overlay. Both slurry seal and chip
seal treatments are considered preventive
maintenance to extend the life of streets
when they are in good or fair condition. The overlay technique is used when road surfaces have reached their end of life and
preventive treatments are no longer an option.
For more information about the project, visit www.diamondbarca.gov/constructionprojects or contact the Public Works
Department at publicworks@diamondbarca.gov or 909-839-7040.
Trash Cart Trash Cart Exchange Exchange ReminderReminder
Starting this month,
residents and
businesses will
be getting their trash and recycling carts or bins
replaced for new ones.
This citywide exchange is part of the transition in waste haulers
that takes effect Sept. 1, 2025, when Valley Vista Services
starts providing service to residential customers and Waste
Management takes over commercial accounts.
The cart replacement process is set to start Monday,
June 2 and continue until July 18. During this seven-week
period, residents should set out all their carts (full or empty)
at the curb on their scheduled collection day until they are
exchanged.
Residents who wish to request extra or different-sized carts,
can contact Valley Vista Services by calling 800-442-6454,
emailing dbresidential@myvvs.com, or requesting to live chat
at www.valleyvistaservices.com.
For detailed information about the waste hauler transition,
and to register to attend one of several informational
community meetings taking place in July and August, visit

Help Keep Wildlife Wild
Wildlife sightings and
encounters are not uncommon
in Diamond Bar, particularly in
parks, trails and areas close to
undeveloped open spaces. Among
the wildlife that live in the area are small mammals that
include squirrels, raccoons, rabbits, and skunks, as well as
larger mammals such as coyotes, bobcats, and deer.
These animals play an integral role in the local ecosystem,
and observing them in their natural habitat is often an
exciting and rewarding experience. However, it is important
to respect their space and not interfere with their natural
behaviors.
Human interference, whether intentional or not, can
negatively impact wildlife and pose a risk to individuals, pets
and the animals themselves. Help keep wildlife wild and
healthy by following these best practices:
Observe from a respectful distance. Observing too closely
can stress wild animals and provoke defensive behaviors.
Do not feed them. Beyond making them dependent on
humans for their food, feeding wildlife can be harmful to their
health by disrupting their natural diet and making them sick.
Do not touch them. Sick animals may not show symptoms,
and dead animals may still carry harmful diseases.
Keep a close eye on pets. Dogs can disturb, harass or harm
wildlife. When walking them in parks or trails, make sure
to keep them on a short leash and do not allow them to
wander off the trail.
If you come across a sick, injured or dead animal, report it to
the Inland Valley Humane Society by calling 909-623-9777
(or 909-594-9858 if calling between 9 p.m. and 7:30 a.m.).
For more information about local wildlife and additional
safety tips, visit the IVHS website at
https://ivhsspca.org/local-wildlife/.
If your home needs critical home repairs or modifications you
cannot afford to make, the City’s Home Improvement Loan
program may be the solution.
The program provides income-
eligible Diamond Bar homeowners
with no-interest deferred payment
loans of $5,000 to $30,000 for
single-family homes, and $5,000
to $20,000 for condominiums to
finance a variety of exterior and
interior home improvements.
Payment of the loan is deferred
until the property is sold, transferred
or refinanced. Monthly payments
are not required and there is no
interest charged.
Eligible types of work include plumbing, electrical and mechanical
repairs, termite/pest control, replacement of doors, windows and
screens, exterior paint or repairs to stucco or siding, roofing repairs
and replacement, and accessibility improvements including removal
of architectural barriers, construction of ramps or modifications
to doorways, and installation of grab bars, handrails and lever
hardware.
No interest or regular payments are required, but the loan must be
repaid in the event the property is sold, transferred, or refinanced.
There is no interest charged on these loans, there is no monthly
payment, and they only have to be repaid if you move out or sell,
transfer or refinance the home, or acquire additional real estate.
To qualify for a loan, applicants must own and occupy the
home, and they must meet income limit guidelines set by the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Funding is limited and applications are accepted on a first-come,
first-served basis until funding is exhausted. To learn more about the
loan program and obtain application materials, contact the City’s
Community Development Department at 909-839-7030.
From photogenic pets to stunning sceneries,
Diamond Bar is brimming with photo-worthy
opportunities! Residents of all ages are invited to

their cameras or phones, and enter them in this
year’s Through My Lens photo contest.
Sponsored by the City and the Diamond Bar
Community Foundation, Through My Lens is all
about showcasing the best of Diamond Bar living as captured
through the camera lenses of residents. There is a youth (17 and
younger) and adult (18 and older) division, five categories: people,
pets, places, nature and Keep it Local (dining or shopping in
town), and every participant can enter up to three photos.
Photographers of entries selected as winners or
honorable mentions will be awarded certificates
of recognition and cash prizes ($100 and $50,
respectively). Additionally, the entry that receives
the highest overall score will take Grand Prize
and the photographer will be awarded an
additional $150.
There is no fee to participate, and the deadline
for entries is Tuesday, Aug. 26. Official contest rules and the entry

POP, PLAY, PLANT … From playful moments to planting memories, the City’s
littlest residents enjoyed hands-on fun at the Healthy DB: Toddler Playtime
and Tree Planting ceremony at Larkstone Park in April. Diamond Bar
resident Ivette Torres said she was happy to see her 1-year-old daughter,
Olivia, have a “tree-mendously fun toddler playtime.” Torres added that
she appreciated the City creating opportunities for parents and toddlers to
socialize and have fun together in a welcoming outdoor setting. The event
featured sensory stations with bubbles, sand, and beads for toddlers to
explore, followed by a hands-on tree planting with City Council
members. Register to attend the next Healthy DB event, Pilates in the
Park, on Saturday, June 7, using AC 5906 at
