City Has Joined
The City has started sharing information with residents on
the free social networking platform for neighborhoods,
Nextdoor.
City posts on this platform will cover everything from latest news
and upcoming events to construction project updates and crime
prevention resources. In addition to general posts to all registered
members, the City will be pushing out area-specific alerts to inform
neighborhoods of public safety hazards, traffic impacts, and other
issues of concern within their area.
Nearly 12,000 residents and 31 neighborhoods in Diamond Bar
are registered with Nextdoor as of January 2025. Launched in 2011,
Nextdoor allows individuals to create private websites to share
information with their neighbors. Neighborhoods establish and
manage their own sites and members must verify their address
before joining Nextdoor.
To learn more or sign up for a free Nextdoor account, download
the app on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, or visit
www.nextdoor.com.
Does your home, garage or shed contain obsolete

and white goods (refrigerators, stoves and washing machines), tires,
ammunition, explosives, and radioactive materials are not accepted.

Cart Service RemindersCart Service Reminders
Weekly curbside collection of
household trash, green/organic
waste, and recyclables helps keep
homes and neighborhoods clean,
safe and attractive.
Setting Out Your Carts
Wheel your carts to the street and place
them with the wheels against the curb by 6 a.m. on your collection day. Place
carts a minimum of two feet apart, and away from parked vehicles, mailboxes or
other objects.
Storing Your Carts
Emptied carts need to be removed from the curb by 10 p.m. on collection day,
and stored out of public sight – inside the garage, in the backyard, within a trash
enclosure or behind a gate.
Reporting a Missed Pickup
If your carts were at the curb by 6 a.m. and were not serviced, call Waste
Management as soon as possible at 800-266-7551. If you call before noon, service
will be provided that same day. Missed pickups reported after noon may take
place the next business day.
Getting a Cart Replacement
If any of your carts are cracked or broken, call Waste Management at
800-266-7551 to get them switched out on your next scheduled collection day.
There is no cost to exchange carts that are worn out from normal use. However,
there is a cost to replace lost or stolen carts, or those that have been damaged
from misuse.
Electric Lawn and Garden Equipment Rebate Program
If you are considering replacing your gasoline-powered lawn or
garden equipment for battery-electric models, the South Coast Air
Quality Management District (AQMD) has a rebate program to help
offset the cost.
The program allows each resident to replace up to three different tools with
battery-electric models for a rebate of up to $250 per equipment unit. Among
the items that qualify for this rebate program are lawn mowers, leaf blowers,
chainsaws, and trimmers.
In order to receive the rebate(s), individuals must turn in a fully functional
old gasoline or diesel-fueled equipment item to an approved dismantler for
permanent destruction, and the new tool(s) must be purchased from an
authorized retail store or online, be cordless and include a battery and charger,
and come with a minimum one-year manufacturer warranty.
For more information, visit www.aqmd.gov/lawnmower or contact the AQMD
at lawngarden@aqmd.gov or 1-888-425-6247.
