Outreach Activities:
In January of 2024, Abound Food Care focused our efforts on coordinating outreach to the
identified non-participating Tier 1 and Tier 2 generators. This included virtual touchpoints
including email, and phone calls that included information on how to begin their food donation
efforts. These touchpoints were as follows:
1. We spoke with Jae who is the receiver at Target, and he let us know the organization
they donate to provided them with their total pounds donated for 2023. We let him
know that they would need to have a monthly total for each month onsite. He is going
to request that they provide him with their total pounds donated each month moving
forward so that they have that recorded at the store level. We will follow up with Jae to
ensure they are receiving their total for their pounds donated each month.
2. We followed up with Temo at Diamond Fresh to see if they had started tracking their
monthly pounds. Temo said they are now tracking their pounds donated each month
and sent over their pounds donated that they have since we did their inspection in
October. We let him know to continue to track their pounds donated and they should be
all set for their inspection in 2024.
3. After looking into Aljabani Halal Market, it seems it is a smaller market and would need
to be at the two-million-dollar revenue annually to qualify. We have been unable to
verify their annual revenue so we reached out to the planning division to see if they
could provide us with this information. We left a voicemail for Stella Marquez regarding
this and will follow up with her in February if we don’t hear from her before then.
4. Vanity at Chili’s responded back to the email we had sent. She let us know she
forwarded the information we sent to their corporate office, and they have reached out
to the appropriate regulatory agencies and are waiting to hear what the next steps will
be moving forward. We will follow up with her in the coming weeks if we don’t hear
back from her before then.
We will continue our outreach to the non-participating Tier 1 and Tier 2 generators and
continue to offer our support in getting them in compliance with the requirements of SB1383.
