Outreach Activities:
In February of 2024, Abound Food Care focused our efforts on coordinating outreach to the
identified non-participating Tier 1 and Tier 2 generators. This included virtual touchpoints
including email, and phone calls that included information on how to begin their food donation
efforts. These touchpoints were as follows:
1. We spoke with Jae at Target. He let us know they are now donating to God’s Pantry
through Feeding America. He let us know they will be providing them with their monthly
pounds donated each month. He sent us over their pounds donated for January and
February and will continue to send us their pounds each month moving forward.
2. We reached out to Martin at Market World as we noticed they have not posted any
donations. We wanted to make sure he is not having any issues posting donations and
we also reminded him to make sure when he has excess edible food to donate it rather
than throwing it out. He responded back and let us know he has not had items to
donate as all their grocery products get credited and taken back to their vendors that
are used. He said other items are outdated and damaged and are not donatable items. If
he ever has edible food that cannot be credited, he said will donate it.
3. After not being able to get in contact with the Encore Teppan location, we found an
email online and sent over information regarding the donation requirements. Chuck
responded back and said they are not in a donation program currently. He asked if we
could send over information on the donation process. We went over Chow Match and
how the program works and sent information on how to sign up as a donor. We will
follow up with Chuck in the coming weeks if he does not sign up or reach back out
before then.
We will continue our outreach to the non-participating Tier 1 and Tier 2 generators and
continue to offer our support in getting them in compliance with the requirements of SB1383.
