Outreach Activities:
In June of 2023, Abound Food Care focused our efforts on coordinating outreach to the
identified non-participating Tier 1 and Tier 2 generators. This included virtual touchpoints
including email and phone calls that included information on how to begin their food donation
efforts. These touchpoints were as follows:
1. We reached out to Martin at Market World again because we noticed he has still not
completed signing up on Chow Match. He said he had thought he had finished but he
was going to log into his account as soon as he had a chance to complete signing up. We
will follow up with him next month if we notice he has not completed signing up.
2. We tried reaching out to Norma at Diamond Fresh, but Lewis let us know that Norma
was no longer at that store. He said we would need to speak with Riyad who is the
owner but that he would be out of town for the next month. We will try to get ahold of
Riyad next month so we could discuss SB 1383 and its requirements.
3. We spoke with Wyatt over at Chili’s and he said they were not donating at this time. We
went over SB 1383 and what they would need to be in compliance. He asked if we could
send additional information to go over regarding this. We will follow up with him next
month to see if he had a chance to go over the information we sent if we do not hear
back from him before then.
4. We are requesting that Young Dong Tofu be taken off the Tier 2 list as it is to small and
does not qualify.
We will continue our outreach to the non-participating Tier 1 and Tier 2 generators and
continue to offer our support in getting them in compliance with the requirements of SB1383.
We await feedback as well as any edits from the city before we can start distribution of the
trifold and letter to all Tier 1 and Tier 2 generators. The trifold contains additional information
on SB 1383 and its requirements as well as information that will help educate how each
generator is identified as a Tier 1 or Tier 2 generator. We are hopeful that the letter will give
the generators the reassurance that Abound Food Care is working with the City on the
requirements of SB 1383 and can help generators get into compliance.
