Outreach Activities:
In April of 2023, Abound Food Care focused our efforts on coordinating outreach to the
identified non-participating Tier 1 and Tier 2 generators. This included virtual touchpoints
including email and phone calls that included information on how to begin their food donation
efforts. These touchpoints were as follows:
1. We have tried reaching out to Norma at Diamond fresh but have still been unable to
reach her by phone. We have not received an email response but have sent follow up
emails to see if she has had a chance to get signed up on chow match as well as
requesting monthly pounds donated since she has expressed that accounting has
donation receipts and was going to work on getting the receipts at the store. We will be
sending out the city letter in May since we have not heard back from Norma in hopes
that it will give a since of urgency.
2. We have continued to reach out to Martin at Market World to see if he has had a
chance to get signed up on chow match but have not heard back from him. We will be
sending out the city letter in May hoping it will give him a since of urgency in getting this
completed.
3. We received the agreement from the Target corporate office that they have with
Feeding America. We will continue to try and get in touch with the manager at the store
level so we can let them know corporate sent us over the agreement and are hoping
they will be more willing to work with us on giving us the additional information we
need.
4. We have begun reaching out to schools that are on the Tier 2 list. Emmalyn from the
Walnut Valley Unified School District reached out to us and let us know that they have a
contract with COPIA who picks up their food donations. All donations from the schools
in the district are sent to Walnut High School where they are then picked up. We let her
know that the agreement and the food log that tracks donations need to be held at each
individual school site so they can access the information to be in compliance with
SB1383. She appreciated us letting her know that and said she would double check their
process. We will be reaching out to Pomona Unified School District as there are five
schools in Diamond Bar that are in the PUSD so we can see if they are in a program as
well.
We will continue our outreach to the non-participating Tier 1 and Tier 2 generators and
continue to offer our support in getting them in compliance with the requirements of SB1383.
We will begin calling the additional generators on the Tier 2 list as we have received
confirmation to move forward with our outreach to the generators we added.
