Successes and Challenges
Successes:
Valley Vista Services has effectively implemented organics recycling across all
franchised service areas. Through collaborative partnerships with local
municipalities, we are committed to ensuring that our customers remain fully
compliant with state recycling regulations.
Challenges:
Some of the challenges we are facing include:
⚬Contamination
⚬Participation
Shaping Our Future
Vision:
Our vision is a future where sustainable practices are embraced, waste
generation is minimized, and resources are utilized efficiently.
In less than a year, Valley Vista Services will have its own Organic's processing
facility where we will source separate green-waste from food-waste.
⚬The plan is to create the slurry/mash here at our facility and send it
straight to the Wastewater Treatment facility. There it will go through an
anaerobic digester to be transformed into renewable resources.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I have to use compostable bags?
•No, currently you can use any clear/transparent plastic bags you have available, the bag gets separated from
the food waste during processing.
Q: Where can I get clear/transparent or compostable bags if I want them?
•You can get clear/transparent or compostable bags in most big box stores such as Target, Walmart, Costco
and online through Amazon.
Q: The food pail is too small, is it required for me to use it?
•No, the food pail was provided by Valley Vista to help our customers get started with organics recycling. You
can use any trash can you prefer to collect the organic waste.
Q: How can I prevent my food waste container from smelling?
•As with your regular trash, the best way to keep your kitchen from smelling is to frequently take out your trash
before it begins to smell and frequently washing out your container. Odor blocking trash bags are a great way
to seal odors in as well.
