HomeMy WebLinkAboutRE Questions for City of Diamond BarrI think this is really well done and articulates DB’s situation fairly. Nice work. I just sent my Recreation info and will be ready to discuss tomorrow. You know these, but some food for thought in the process……. it’s probably worth painting the picture about dated/aging County provided parks, no City owned Community Center/pool/sports complex, park fields are free to user groups which is very rare yet expensive to maintain, school district rental costs increasing, cost recovery model for Recreation programs is extremely low (i.e summer day camp is basically subsidized by City and special evens are basically free) , and the aging demographic includes a shift in needs (i.e. pickleball or walking trails, etc). My intent is to remind the public about these cheap/free programs, yet remind them of the associated costs while explaining any new amenity comes with a requirement of “ new money.” Thanks From: Ryan McLean <RMcLean@DiamondBarCA.Gov> Sent: Monday, March 24, 2025 3:40 PM To: Department Heads <DepartmentHeads@DiamondBarCA.Gov>; Alex Batres <ABatres@DiamondBarCA.Gov>; Dannette Mansfield <DMansfield@DiamondBarCA.gov> Subject: Questions for City of Diamond Bar Hi all, As you may remember, we are using our scheduled Wednesday staff meeting time to meet virtually with Richard Bernard of FM3 to begin work on the baseline survey for a potential revenue measure on the 2026 ballot. Earlier today, Richard sent me some questions/points to get the ball rolling on the content of the survey. Given the limited time before the meeting, I’ve started work here so Richard has a starting point. We will discuss these items at the meeting and you will all have an opportunity to participate. That said, please review the attachment and provide me with your feedback or be prepared to discuss in the meeting in greater detail. This feedback may include additions, deletions or edits to my initial work, and other ideas relevant to the process and the City’s current standing and future. I look forward working on this with you on Wednesday. Ryan
