Subject: Emergency Preparedness & Mitigation/Planning Efforts
Department Heads and Managers-
As discussed during our executive team meeting today, I propose that we convene a working group of our departments (8-12 people) that will be tasked with the following:
1. Prepare an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) drill in the coming months to test our readiness efforts.
2. Evaluate our Hazard Mitigation Plan, City operations, and determine recommended steps to increase mitigation efforts pertaining to fire, earthquake, and other natural hazards.
3. Be the liaisons with Departments to focus on staff training and preparedness.
In that spirit, please work with your respective Departments and provide me a main point of contact and an alternate. I’d like to schedule the kickoff meeting in two weeks, potentially
the week of January 27 or February 3. I’d like to meet monthly for the time being as we work on some high priority items.
The team should have representatives from the following:
1. Building & Safety (Building Official, Inspector, or designee)
2. Community Development (Planning or Neighborhood Improvement)
3. Community Relations
4. Information Systems
5. Finance
6. Parks & Recreation
7. Public Works (Field Operations and Engineering)
8. City Manager’s Office
