Thank you for your participation in today's call. Here are the summary notes:
***RED FLAG WARNING FOR THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY MOUNTAINS( I-5 CORRIDOR TO LAKE HUGHES) THROUGH 6AM SATURDAY***
***ELEVATED TO BRIEF CRITICAL CONDITIONS THROUGH SATURDAY OVER MOUNTAINS AND INTERIOR VALLEYS***
TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY:
* Winds: West to North Gusts 25-35 mph.
* Winds focused over many mountains and interior valleys, strongest afternoon through night hours.
* Isolated gusts 35 to 45 mph over strongest areas
* Including I-5 Corridor (peaking through tonight), Antelope Valley (peaking this afternoon/evening), and Western Santa Ynez Range/foothills (peaking this evening and Sat evening).
* Humidity: Minimums 5-12% mountains, deserts, and interior valleys.
* Humidity levels 15-35% Western Santa Ynez Range/foothills this evening and Saturday evening.
* Poor overnight recoveries 12-25% mountains and interior valley hills, lowest tonight.
* Temperatures: Highs 95-105 most valleys, lower mountains, and deserts
* Hottest today. 5-10 degrees above normal.
* Overnight lows: 60-70 common, except 70-78 common foothills and deserts.
* High mixing heights 10,000-15,000 feet mountains & interior valleys.
* Coastal sections: Highs 75-85. Shallow but present marine layer with locally dense fog.
* Fuels:
* Live fuels are at or near critical, generally 55-70%.
* 10hr dead fuels at critical, generally 3-7% with little change expected into next week.
* Assessment:
* Elevated fire weather conditions for most valleys, mountains, and deserts
* 3-6 hours of critical conditions likely over windiest mountains, interior valleys, and deserts each day,
* Especially today through tonight for Ventura county mountains, western Antelope Valley, and possibly western Santa Ynez Range.
* 6-12 hours of critical conditions likely I-5 Corridor to Lake Hughes through tonight
* Red Flag Warning through 6am Saturday.
* Any new fire starts likely will result in rapid fire spread/extreme fire behavior
OUTLOOK (SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY):
* Slight improvement but still warm and dry over mountains and interior valleys.
* Winds shift to more seasonal southwest to northwest onshore direction, less north winds and Sundowners.
* Elevated fire weather conditions over the mountains and interior valleys.
* Potential return of monsoon moisture to southern mountains/deserts by Monday/Tuesday - slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms each day for eastern San Gabriels
