Fall has arrived and the smell of pumpkin spice rises from many coffee cups. The magic of Halloween has arrived as the kids and adults look forward to the fun and candy. I just want
to pass on a quick reminder of safety tips we should consider during this holiday celebration.
When it comes to Halloween, the need to have a responsible adult accompanying young children is very important. They can guide them along the walk and assure they will be safe when
crossing any streets. If the kids are a little older, have your kids walk in groups. Make sure you know the route they will taking and tell them to never enter anyone's home. Give
them a specific time that your child must be back at home and ask for them to check in from time to time.
Even more important than what they wear, make sure you tell them to watch out for motorists. A frightening statistic regarding Halloween is that children are more than twice as likely
to be hit by a car and killed than any other day of the year. Make sure they are paying attention when walking on any roadway.
If you are driving on Halloween, make sure you are looking out for the trick or treaters. Kids are having fun and may dart in and out of the roadway. Drive very defensively, especially
entering and exiting a driveway. If your a new driver, take the night off and let the more expierenced drivers take the wheel. You can always get back on the road the next day. If
you have consumed any alcohol which slows down you reaction time, you can take the night off too. Use your local taxie, Uber, or lift to get you home safely.
So enjoy your goolish night of fun and get home safe so you can eat all those delicious treats.
