HomeMy WebLinkAboutLos Angeles County Zonehaven Roll Out Update - Mass-Notification System Integration - save the dates - 6_21_2022 and 6_28_2022 at 1PM.msgCAUTION: This message originated outside of our City of Diamond Bar network. Good day all, A few updates on the Zonehaven project rollout. We’ve been having a number of small meetings the past few weeks with individual cities to discuss integration of approved finalized zones into their respective local mass notification/alert and warning protocols and systems (such as Alert LA County, Alert SouthBay, Everbridge, Code Red, Blackboard Connect, and Wireless Emergency Alerts, etc.). For the unincorporated area and the cities served by Los Angeles County Fire Department, we’re currently working on and testing a coordination protocol between the field, Fire Dispatch (LACC), and the respective jurisdictional mass notification initiators when involving Zonehaven. Our goal is to finalize and familiarize stakeholders on that protocol following testing later this month. For situational awareness, when a zone’s status is changed in the Zonehaven system, it automatically generates a short email report with the selected Zone’s IDs, the status they’ve been changed to, the reason given, and by whom and when the change was made. An example is attached. We’re currently setting up email rules with the County and/or Zonehaven to auto-forward these Zone Status Change emails to additional public safety personnel to assist with coordinating local mass notification, emergency public information, and situational awareness for nearby jurisdictions. * If your jurisdiction/department has email addresses that you want receiving those email reports about zone changes within the county (we’re unable to target smaller than countywide) please send the email addresses to bcummings@ceooem.lacounty.gov <mailto:bcummings@ceooem.lacounty.gov> to be added to the distro. We strongly encourage the use whenever possible of “headless” email accounts that may be updated locally within your organization over time. * If your jurisdiction is served by Los Angeles County Fire Department and has its own mass notification system, we’ll be reaching out later this month for primary and alternate/back-up contacts for those systems (name, email, phone numbers) to be added to the distro and coordination protocols. * Additionally, as jurisdictions with their own mass notification systems approve their zones in Zonehaven from “Preliminary” to “Approved” we’ll be working with them for access to the Zone Mapping Service, for KMLs/Shapefiles for use in their local mass notification systems. * For the cities not served by Los Angeles County Fire Department, we’re setting up a planning meeting next week Tuesday 6/21 at 1PM and another on 6/28 1PM to discuss best practices and options for incorporating zones into their mass notification protocols. Invites to follow shortly. * Lastly, a reminder for cities that have zones that have been reviewed by their fire and law enforcement stakeholders and are ready to approve, we’re requesting their jurisdictional representative update that status in Zonehaven by selecting the respective zone, and updating its Zone Approval Status to “Approved” (example pictured below). If jurisdictional representatives have questions on accessing and navigating the system to update a zones status, please let me know. We’ll continue to work with the jurisdictions still reviewing/updating their zones.
