...RED FLAG WARNINGS IN EFFECT LATE TONIGHT/THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING FOR WESTERN LOS ANGELES AND EASTERN VENTURA COUNTIES...
THROUGH THIS EVENING
· Winds: N-NE gusts 15-25 mph
§ Isolated gusts 35 mph for wind prone valleys and ridges of Los Angeles/Ventura counties
§ Winds expected to strengthen this evening
· Humidity: Mins 5-15% away from coast
· Temperatures: Highs 66-78.
· Assessment: Elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions away from the coast
TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING:
· Winds: Moderate to locally strong Santa Ana winds ramping up after midnight
* NE gusts peaking 35-55 mph for much of western Los Angeles County and eastern Ventura County (including coastal areas)
* NE gusts peaking 50-65 mph over windier mountains and hills
* E-SE gusts 20-35 mph interior SLO and Santa Barbara County mountains surrounding Cuyama
* Strongest winds early Thursday morning through early Thursday afternoon
* LAX-DAG gradient peaking -5 to -7 mb Thursday morning
* Moderate upper-level support
* Weaker NE winds gusting 30-45 mph continuing through Thursday night, slowly diminishing through Friday morning
· Humidity: Humidities recovering to 20-40% this evening, slowly lowering back down as winds pick up
* Widespread mins 5-15% (even near coast)
* Humidity may not lower to 15% or lower criteria over Ventura County until later in the morning
* Very low humidities continuing through Friday
· Temperatures: Highs 70-80 south and west of mountains Thursday (low 60s for Antelope Valley)
· Assessment:
o High confidence in 6-12+ hours of widespread Red Flag weather conditions across much of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties
*Red Flag Warning in effect from 1am tonight through 11am Friday for the mountains and wind-prone valleys of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties
*Red Flag Warning in effect from 8am Thursday through 11am Friday for the Ventura County coastal plain and Malibu strip
* Few hours of critical conditions possible on Thursday for interior SLO and Santa Barbara County mountains
Outlook: Continued dry conditions through the weekend with weaker winds. Cooler temperatures are expected next week with a 20-30% chance of rain.
