Greetings, Here are updated notes on expected fire weather conditions and the outlook into next week: TODAY THROUGH MONDAY: * Winds: * Afternoon and early evening southwest to west gusts of 20-35 mph portions of the mountains and interior, primarily Los Angeles County, with isolated gusts to 45 mph around Lake Palmdale * Humidity: * Min humidities 10-25 percent warmest warmer valleys into the mountains and interior * Temperatures: * Hot temperatures 90s to 110 valleys and interior today. Gradual cooling trending Sunday into Monday or Tuesday * Large vertical plume growth potential in any new fire starts with mixing heights 12-17 kft mountains to the interior * Monsoon Moisture: * Afternoon cumulus development LA County mountains and adjacent parts of the Antelope Valley * Small chance (10-15%) of an shower or thunderstorm eastern LA County mountains and desert Sunday/ Monday. Very small (5-10%) chance of a thunderstorm for the same area this afternoon/ early evening. * Assessment: * Elevated fire weather conditions for portions of the LA County mountains and Antelope Valley with active wildfires and grass fires possible. * Brief heavy rain and localized flash flooding due slow moving thunderstorms. Dry lightning and gusty outflow winds cannot be ruled out. * Moderate to high heat risk for those who are sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration, valleys to the interior.
