Greetings.
The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard will NOT be holding a conference call today, but there are some items to raise to your awareness.
***Elevated Fire Weather Conditions Tonight through Tuesday night for southern Santa Barbara county due to an extended period of sundowner winds, warm temperatures, and low humidities***
***Elevated to Brief Critical Fire Weather Conditions Today through Tuesday evening for the Interior due to gusty west to northwest winds, warm temperatures, and low humidities***
TODAY THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT (Southern Santa Barbara County):
* Winds:
* Extended period of Sundowner winds, strongest and longest duration over western portions.
* Strongest and most widespread sundowner winds from 3 pm Monday to 3 am Tuesday with High Wind Watch in effect for western portions
* Through Tuesday Night.
* Western portions (Gaviota to San Marcos Pass) Gusts 35-55 mph, except Gusts 40-60 mph late Monday afternoon/night. Strongest near Gaviota/Refugio.
* Eastern portions Gusts 30-45 mph each night. Strongest near Montecito Hills
* Peak SBA-SMX gradients: -4.5 mb today, -5.0 to -5.5 mb Monday, -4 mb Tuesday (exceeding 97th percentile on Monday)
* Humidity: Mins 25-45% today and Tuesday, 20-40% Monday (Driest from Goleta eastward)
* Temperatures: Highs 75-85 today, 78-88 Monday, 75-83 Tuesday.
* Warm nights in foothills (lows 60-68)
* Assessment:
* Elevated Fire Weather Conditions.
* Drying fuels
* Active wildfires with strong initial response likely if ignition occurs
* Power outages are possible late Monday afternoon/Monday night
TODAY THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING (Interior Southwest California):
* Winds:
* Extended period of gusty west to northwest winds across interior
* Through Tuesday Night.
* Gusts 25-45 mph (strongest I-5 corridor/Antelope Valley and foothills)
* Peak LAX-Dag gradients: +6 mb today, +7 mb Monday/Tuesday
* Humidity: Mins 7-20% (Driest across Antelope Valley and mountains)
* Temperatures: Highs 83-93 today, 80-89 Monday/Tuesday.
* Assessment:
* Elevated to Brief Critical Fire Weather Conditions each afternoon/evening.
* Drying fuels
* Localized 2-4 hours of critical fire weather conditions in windiest / driest areas
* Red Flag Warnings for most extreme conditions NOT expected
* Active wildfires with strong initial response likely if ignition occurs
OUTLOOK:
* Gusty onshore winds and dry conditions likely to continue across interior Wednesday/Thursday.
* Potential for weak offshore winds and very low humidities across interior Friday.
