and gusty winds at times...
Through TONIGHT
· Elevated fire weather conditions for the Santa Clarita Valley, LA/VTA Mountains, Antelope Valley, and Santa Ynez Mountains/Foothills
o Santa Ynez mountains/foothills: NW/N winds 20-30 mph with gusts to 50 mph (isolated 55 mph) this evening into tonight. Minimum RH 15-35 percent with poor (20-30 percent) overnight
recovery across some lower coastal slopes (especially above Montecito)
o Santa Clarita Valley, LA/VTA Mountains (I-5 corridor), Antelope Valley: N/NW winds of 15-30 mph with isolated gusts to 45 mph. Min RH 8-18 percent (locally lower Antelope Valley)
MONDAY through FRIDAY (All Valleys, Foothills, Mountains, and Antelope Valley):
· Winds:
o Monday - NE winds 15-25 mph and isolated gusts to 40 mph (strongest across the mountains, through early afternoon) for the western San Gabriel Mountains, Santa Clarita Valley, and
eastern Ventura County valleys.
o Tuesday through Friday – typical onshore pattern with afternoon SW gusts 20-40 mph mainly for the San Gabriel Mountains and Antelope Valley
· Humidities:
o Lowering to 5-15 percent Monday most areas
o Tuesday through Friday 8-18 percent; driest for interior valleys and mountains
o Overnight RH recoveries 15-30 percent
· Temperatures:
o Valleys, Foothills, and Antelope Valley: Highs 85 to locally 100 degrees Monday through Friday
o Mountains: Highs 75-90 Monday and Tuesday; 80-95 Wednesday through Friday
· Tropical moisture possible Wednesday:
o Main potential impact would be increasing high clouds, cooler temperatures and a temporary increase in RH
o There is a 10-20 percent chance of a thunderstorm with dry lightning across LA/VTA mountains to Antelope Valley
NEXT WEEKEND:
· Temperatures:
o Heat may build across the region with triple digit heat likely (60-80%) across far interior areas and possible (20-40%) into elevated coastal valleys to foothills
· Assessment:
o Elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions most widespread on Monday into coastal valleys, then mainly each afternoon for foothills, mountains, and Antelope Valley through
the week
o NO Watches or Warnings in effect at this time.
o Increased threat of rapid wildfire spread if ignition occurs
