Yesterday I received a report of a possible homeless encampment near SR-60 DB Blvd Westbound offramp.
When I drove by the location, I saw what appears to be a shopping cart and some bicycles on the Caltrans side of the fence just north of the physical offramp.
Just north of the fence line on private property appears to be a significant amount of litter and debris. I’m not certain if it is an encampment, where people congregate, or just a
dumping ground.
I wanted to compare notes with you all about the best way to notify both Caltrans and the private property owner about this situation. In the past I would report the encampment to the
Caltrans online service request system, but I’m not certain if the offramp is handled by them or Metro.
For the private property area, in the past I believe Scheller may have the contact information for that private property owner. The property does have no trespassing signs, but I’m
not certain if a current letter of agency is on file with Sheriff.
I am going to submit an LA HOP request for homeless services referral. However, the last few I have submitted for that area has not met with success so will keep trying.
