Earlier today I visited the YMCA Learning Center to update them on the City’s homeless response efforts. I let them know that I would submit an LA HOP request (Request ID: 56795) in
advance of our future notice and intent to clean up, which we will schedule once the weather calms down.
Ronnie and Gabriela reached out to YMCA to initiate the letter of agency process. YMCA mentioned they’ve had some activity on their property, including what they believe was either
vandalism or an attempted break in. YMCA acknowledges they have seen deputies in the area, which they appreciate.
Let’s plan on circling back later this week so we can determine what steps we can take when the weather improves. In the meantime, LA CADA attempted outreach and the LA HOP request
has been submitted.

Good afternoon,
LA CADA visited the park and ride lots and Sunset Crossing Park. It appears there is an active encampment on the City owned parcel at Sunset Crossing, in between the baseball field
and fence separating City park from railroad.
I’ve spoken with Anthony Jordan and Deputy Scheller. Due to weather and safety considerations, we will tentatively schedule posting the no trespassing and cleanup notice early next
week, for cleanup mid to late week. This should provide sufficient time for weather to improve. It is also very likely that persons at the location will go to other nearby areas,
including rail property on the other side of the fence.
Sharing the update in case you get any calls. This encampment is on our radar and we’ll respond when safe to do so.

I’ve been receiving reports of homeless encampments at various locations throughout the City, including the end of Sunset Crossing Park (possibly railroad property), Steep Canyon (bottom
of the canyon), and Caltrans right of way (various locations). Due to the weather and muddy conditions in several of the reported encampment areas, I am suggesting that we wait until
next week to physically verify some of the hard to reach areas.
If you receive reports of encampments and they can be easily verified let me know. For the hard to reach areas I’d like to document the date of the report so we can inspect when safe
to do so.
I will ask LA CADA to outreach the park and ride lots and Sunset Crossing. Any other suggestions please let me know so I can advise the team when they are in town later this afternoon.
