The Los Angeles County Department Policy 05-09/271.00 states, “Department members shall not initiate police action with the objective of discovering the individual’s immigration status.” It goes on to further say that “department members shall not inquire about and individuals immigration status” and that we will not forward any information to the US Immigration department. However, if you are an unlicensed driver, you might get a ticket for driving without a license (violation 12500 cvc) which is now an infraction.
