Begin forwarded message: From: David Gomberg - NOAA Federal <david.gomberg@noaa.gov> Date: August 13, 2022 at 11:31:57 AM PDT Subject: NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard Fire Weather Notes: Saturday, Aug. 13th - NO CALL TODAY  *** Elevated fire weather conditions for interior valleys and mountains through the weekend *** *** Slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon across eastern San Gabriels *** TODAY: * Temperatures: * 75-85 near the coast, 90-105 valleys, lower mountains, and deserts * Humidity: * 15-30% coastal valleys into the mountains; 8-15% far interior sections * Driest today across interior San Luis Obispo County and the Antelope Valley * Poor to minimal overnight recoveries * Winds: * LA County mountains, Santa Clarita Valley, and interior: Afternoon and early evening southwesterly gusts 20-30 mph. Overnight north and northwest gusts 20-30 mph through the I-5 corridor * Western Santa Ynez Range: Overnight northwest gusts 25-35 mph, isolated gusts 40 mph near Gaviota. * Lowest humidity with these winds 25-45%. * Elsewhere general afternoon onshore breezes * Thunderstorms: * Slight chance of thunderstorms across eastern San Gabriels this afternoon. * If storms develop, main threats would be isolated dry lightning strikes and gusty downdraft winds * Assessment: * Elevated fire weather conditions valleys, mountains, and deserts * Peak mixing heights 10,000-15,000 ft mountains and interior could produce plume driven fire behavior with any new or existing fires * Moderate Heat Risk for those who are sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration in many valleys and mountains, as well as Antelope Valley OUTLOOK FOR SUNDAY THROUGH NEXT WEEK: * Continued above normal temperatures with highs 90-103 valleys, lower mountains, and deserts. * Afternoon humidity in the teens and isolated single digits mountains, some interior valleys, and deserts.
