Hi Aaron,
Private 5G LTE or CBRS is a wireless technology that allows theCity of Diamond Bar to create their own ultra-high speed, super low latency, secure network, with a handful of devices
to provide massive connectivity to city vehicles, employee mobile devices and IoT sensors. Private LTE access points are very powerful and can extend a “Wi-Fi” like network out 7-9
miles from their location.
This means that a city covering 50 sq. miles could easily create a Private LTE network to cover the entire city with a dozen or so access points. The access points can be mounted on
city buildings and structures and plugged directly into the city’s network to allow connectivity for city employee mobile devices, police and fire vehicles, water department sensors,
and security cameras.
Private LTE is the new Wi-Fi, but simpler, less expensive, more powerful, and easier to deploy. I’d be glad to chat more about potential 5G Private LTE/CBRS use-cases at the City of
