Homeless people are taking hotel stuff (Bedsheets, Shower, curtains etc) from housekeeper cart. Lot of car goes in and out for homeless. Don’t know what they are dealing. I don’t want my staff to talk to them to prevent stealing, maybe they will retaliate or aggressive. They are also have pet animals. Hotel is worried about safety of guest also. Please let us know as soon as possible. I have previously submitted the request to Caltrans, and it unfortunately does take several weeks for both Caltrans and California Highway Patrol to verify and respond. Today I check new wooden structure has been erected. Hotel complained this incident on 08/05/2022. Its since a month issue is not been resolved. I am sure what’s status of complain with Caltrans. Have you reported to the Sheriff’s Department when your guests have alleged having issues with the individuals staying in the Caltrans property behind your hotel? I have been unable to see individuals on the other side of the fence on Caltrans property. I have seen what looks like a canopy or shade structure, but I can’t tell if they are using some of the boxes or material that is in the Best Western parking lot to make the structures. My recommendation is to clear the remaining boxes and litter that are behind your hotel. Anything that your business leaves back there could be used to construct temporary structures. If you have a photo from your second story that you can share of the encampment please forward to me? I can then submit a request to Caltrans. I walked into the Caltrans area through a fence line break in between Best Western and the restaurant. I could not determine if there is an encampment in that area, or if it is used as a walking path to Diamond Bar Blvd. I will add the location to the list that we monitor. I did notice what appears to be several boxes and pieces of furniture at the rear of the Best Western parking lot. Those items could be used by individuals to construct a temporary shelter nearby. I would encourage you to have those items recycled or disposed of as soon as possible. If you are in need of assistance making contact with Valley Vista to secure a large bin for disposal let me know and I can have my colleague put you in touch with customer service. If the encampment is in the long Caltrans parcel that runs along the freeway, is it near Best Western, New Aashiyana Restaurant, or closer to the Tire business by Diamond Bar blvd?
