HomeMy WebLinkAbout_Possible SPAM_ Barracuda_ Mass Casualty Guidance for Municipal Leaders.msgCAUTION: This message originated outside of our City of Diamond Bar network. Good afternoon all, During our June Area D meeting, we briefly presented on a document that we have been working on as a result of Uvalde, TX mass shooting incident. After researching this topic, all we could find were documents and guidance on mass shooting incident, we could not locate a document that would address a mass casualty response and recovery. It was eminent and clear that Area D should provide a guidance document to our local elected officials should a mass casualty incident (mass shooting, multi casualty, high profile casualties) ever occur in our area. The goal was to address mass casualties as a result of any incidents in which a local jurisdiction would have to assist with the response and recovery efforts. With the help of our partners and entrusted colleagues, we developed and composed the Mass Casualty Guidance for Municipal Leaders. This document is intended to serve as a reference to our local and elected leaders. The document provides information in areas that should be addressed and consider in response to and in recovering from a local incident. This document is specific to our Disaster Management Area D, and can be modified to meet the needs of the local jurisdiction. This document is not intended to replace any other similar or existing document, but can serve as an additional guidance or annex to your Emergency Operations Center. I want to personally thank Michael R Hillmann Retired Assistant Chief- LAPD, Michael Little RTG Intelligence- JRIC, and Bryan Ariizumi Public Safety Supervisor City of Temple City for their assistance and dedication to assuring we produced a document that was specific to our area, and that it could help bridge any gaps our local jurisdictions may encounter in responding to this unfortunate inevitable incident. As always, we hope that we never have to respond to an incident of this caliber, but we want to make sure our elected leaders are prepared in the event this should ever happen.
