Greetings! The National Weather Service in Los Angeles / Oxnard will NOT be holding a fire weather conference call today, but we would like to give an update on the end of the current
Santa Ana wind event and the possibility of elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions lingering through Saturday across the mountains and valleys.
...ELEVATED TO BRIEF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS POSSIBLE THROUGH SATURDAY ACROSS MOUNTAINS AND VALLEYS OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES...
REST OF TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY:
· Winds: Lingering NE gusts 15-30 mph for wind-prone mountains and valleys of Los Angeles County through this afternoon, possibly evening
* N gusts 25-35 mph possible late tonight through Saturday for Los Angeles/Ventura County mountains as well as western Santa Ynez range
* Return of sea breeze along coast in the afternoon
· Humidity: Widespread mins 8-15% today
* Poor overnight recovery (15-25%) over breezier portions of interior
* Mins 10-20% Saturday away from coast
* Higher humidities near the coast due to sea breeze
· Temperatures: Highs 70-80 south and west of mountains (mid 60s Antelope Valley)
· Assessment: Elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions possible over mountains and breezier valleys
OUTLOOK: NEXT WEEK
* Cooler temperatures expected next week with highs 5-10 degrees below normal
* Possible return of marine layer Saturday night/Sunday morning; deep marine layer likely Sunday night/Monday morning
* Improving humidities Sunday and Monday
* Gusty N-NW winds possibly across southwest Santa Barbara County eastward to the I-5 corridor and western Antelope Valley Monday afternoon through Tuesday (gusts 30-50 mph possible)
* Possible widespread precipitation next Friday/Saturday?
