...HIGH WIND WARNING IS IN EFFECT THROUGH 7 PM FOR THE MOUNTAINS AND SOME COASTS/VALLEYS OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES...
...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 1AM SATURDAY THROUGH 10PM SATURDAY FOR THE MOUNTAINS AND SOME COASTS/VALLEYS OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES...
THROUGH TONIGHT:
* Winds: Los Angeles and Ventura Counties: coasts/valleys: N-NE gusts 30-45 mph, mountains: gusts 45-55 mph.
* Winds diminishing some by late evening
* Humidity: Widespread mins 5-15% through this evening
* Poor overnight recoveries (max 15-30% in windier locations)
* Temperatures: Highs 65-78.
* Assessment:
* High confidence in Red Flag weather conditions continuing over western Los Angeles County and most of Ventura County through early this evening
* Based on local fire weather experts, fuels remain receptive for rapid fire growth, especially when combined with the exceptionally strong winds
* Localized Red Flag weather conditions may continue through tonight across mountains and foothills (including Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Monica mountains)
THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY
* Winds: N-NE gusts 20-40 mph mountains and valleys of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties Thursday morning
* Onshore flow at the coast late Thursday afternoon
* Light winds Friday morning with increasing NE winds by the afternoon (gusts 15-30 mph)
* Humidity: Mins 8-15%
* Poor overnight recoveries (max 15-30% in windier locations)
* Temperatures: Highs 65-75.
* Assessment:
* Elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions expected across much of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties
FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY
* Winds: Los Angeles and Ventura Counties: coasts/valleys: N-NE gusts 30-50 mph (isolated 60 mph foothills), mountains: gusts 40-60 mph (isolated 70 mph windiest peaks/canyons)
* Strongest late Friday night through Saturday morning
* LAX-DAG gradient peaking around -6 to -8 mb
* Moderate upper-level support (weaker and less widespread than current event)
* Humidity: Mins 6-12% on Saturday
* Humidities stay up around 20-40% Friday evening and quickly lower to 15% by early Saturday morning as the winds pick up
* Temperatures: Highs 60-74.
* Assessment:
* High confidence in 6+ hours of Red Flag weather conditions over western Los Angeles and much of Ventura County on Saturday
* Fire Weather Watch for mountains, valleys, and coastal areas 1am through 10pm Saturday
