Greetings. The National Weather Service in Los Angeles / Oxnard will NOT be holding a fire weather conference call today, but there is still expected to be near critical fire weather
conditions through this afternoon. Here are some minor updates to the forecast:
TODAY:
* Winds: NE Gusts 25-45 mph through early this afternoon (isolated gusts 50-60 mph LA County mountains)
* Winds strongest over mountains and valleys of LA/eastern Ventura Counties, breezy winds to 35 mph Ventura County coastal plain.
* Gradually weakening this afternoon with breezy winds lingering over the mountains
* LAX-Daggett gradient peaked -3.6 mb this morning and is trending weaker, moderate upper level wind support
* Humidity: Mins 8-20% wind-prone areas of LA/eastern Ventura Counties, 12-25% Santa Barbara/SLO Counties
* Temperatures: Highs 68-78.
* Assessment:
* Elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions across much of LA and eastern Ventura counties
* 2-6 hours of Red Flag conditions expected through early afternoon over LA & eastern Ventura County Valleys and Mountains (including Santa Monicas).
* No Red Flag Warning will be issued due to brevity of overlap of critical winds and humidities
OUTLOOK:
* Tuesday: High Temperatures 70-80, Minimum Humidities 15-30%
* Wednesday: High Temperatures 70-80, Minimum Humidities 25-45%.
* Thursday & Friday: Moderate confidence in another round of Santa Ana winds, but low confidence in extent and intensity. Minimum humidities possibly lowering to 8-20 percent. Elevated
to brief critical fire weather conditions possible.
