Good afternoon,
There will be no fire weather call today, but we wanted to take some to highlight a few fire weather items.
TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY
* Winds:
* Southwest to west winds gusting to 20-35 mph
* Isolated gusts to 40 mph in the interior foothills
* Winds are strongest during the afternoon and evening hours over portions of Los Angeles, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo Counties
* Humidity:
* Min humidities lowering to 15-30% in the higher valleys, foothills, mountains, and desert (Antelope Valley)
* Very dry air in place across the San Gabriel Range and higher elevations of the mountains: 5-15% with poor overnight humidity recoveries
* Temperatures:
* Hot temperatures in 90s to near 103 in the valleys, foothills, and desert
* Warmer overnight temperatures foothills
* Assessment:
* Elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions each afternoon and evening in the windiest and driest across portions of Southwest California
* Extended period warm and very dry conditions for the San Gabriel Mountains
* Active wildfires and grass fires possible across interior
SOUTHERN SANTA BARBARA COUNTY
* Winds:
* Northwest to north winds gusting 35-45 mph
* Isolated gusts to 50 mph near Gaviota
* Strongest over southwestern Santa Barbara County this evening but also affecting the eastern Santa Ynez Range
* Breezy winds will also impact (including Montecito), Central Coast, Antelope Valley, most mountains (including I-5 Corridor), and adjacent coastal waters
* SBA-SMX pressure gradients peaking around -4.0 mb this evening. Weak upper level support
* Humidity:
* Humidities lowering to 20-35% late this evening
* Isolated 15-20% eastern Santa Ynez Range
* Assessment:
* Elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions possible this evening in the eastern Santa Ynez Range
* Small branches may be downed and power outages are possible
* Active wildfires are possible during the late evening hours
