Greetings, Here are updated notes on the continued elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions across parts of the mountains and interior. There's also a slight chance of monsoon thunderstorms in the eastern San Gabriels on Thursday. TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY * Winds: * Afternoon and early evening southwest to west gusts to 25-35 mph mountains and interior with isolated gusts to 45 mph around Lake Palmdale * Strongest Antelope Valley foothills today and expanding into nearby LA and Ventura Co mountain areas on Wednesday * Humidity: * Min humidities 5-18 percent * Driest Wednesday with widespread humidities in the single digits and lower teens spread through most mountain and interior areas * Some moistening Thursday; teens limited to far interior and adjacent mountain areas * Very poor overnight recoveries tonight; some improvement Wednesday night * Max humidity 12-30% mountains and Antelope Valley tonight * Temperatures: * Hot temperatures in 90s to 105 interior valleys and foothills (hottest Antelope Valley) * Very warm overnight temperatures in the 70s Antelope Valley and parts of the mountains and foothills * Monsoon Moisture: * Arrives on Thursday. Bulk of the moisture east of the district. * Afternoon cumulus buildup LA County mountains, possibly into Ventura Co mountains * Enough moisture over far eastern LA Co mountains for a slight chance of thunderstorms Thursday, lesser chances adjacent Antelope Valley areas * Assessment: * Elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions through at least Wednesday afternoon and evening in the windiest and driest areas * Active wildfires and grass fires possible across interior * Slight chance dry lightning eastern San Gabriels Thursday OUTLOOK FOR FRIDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND * Continued very dry conditions across the interior each day with minimum humidities 15-25% interior and nearby mountain areas * Warmer temperatures expand to all but the immediate coast by Saturday. Hottest days Friday and Saturday; slight cooling on Sunday. * Afternoon cumulus buildups LA Co mountains. 10 percent chance of monsoon thunderstorm activity Friday and Saturday over far eastern LA County mountains.
