Begin forwarded message: From: Benjamin Gurnett <BGurnett@ceooem.lacounty.gov> Date: September 24, 2022 at 5:59:05 PM PDT Subject: Excessive Heat Warning AND Heat Advisory Issued  Hello all, The following information is being shared for situational awareness: The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the following areas: * Downtown Los Angeles: effective Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. through Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 8 p.m. * Santa Clarita Valley: effective Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. through Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 8 p.m. * San Fernando Valley: effective Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. through Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 8 p.m. * San Gabriel Valley: effective Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. through Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 8 p.m. The National Weather Service (NWS) has also issued a Heat Advisory for the following areas: * Malibu Coast: effective Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. through Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 8 p.m. * Santa Monica Mountains: effective Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. through Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 8 p.m. * LA County Coast: effective Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. through Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 8 p.m. Cooling Center note: County operated Cooling Centers are not currently extending days/hours of operation beyond standard business hours, but, as always, cities maintain the authority and liberty to facilitate local heat response measures, including Cooling Center operations, based on local plans, procedures, and thresholds. It is also good to reinforce that residents can access existing public services during normal business hours to escape the heat.
