HomeMy WebLinkAboutRE_ DCS - Eastgate Repeater Equipment.msgHi Sgt- Just a quick follow up if there has been any luck finding out information on the eastgate repeater? I received the Walnut Valley Water District annual invoice. This covers both the lease agreement and electricity. I’d like to process but wanted to confirm before doing so. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2023. Just a quick follow up if you by chance were able to find out any information about the Eastgate Repeater? Please see email below for background. Thank you, Anthony From: Anthony Santos Sent: Wednesday, August 24, 2022 1:39 PM To: Darren Luter <daluter@lasd.org> Subject: DCS - Eastgate Repeater Equipment Importance: High Sgt- I have a question that I’m hoping you assist with. The City has a long term site license agreement with the Walnut Valley Water District for a repeater that was installed at their Eastgate Reservoir, just above Pantera Park. I was under the impression the equipment was either Sheriff or amateur radio operators. The District mentioned there is a protocol to get access to their site, which they can provider 24/7 by the phone number on the gate. The Water District called the City because apparently this past Sunday 8/21, two individuals accessed the site and removed some equipment from the location. District personnel said one of the two persons is familiar, likely because they previously accessed the site. They had keys to open the gates as well. From what District staff told me, this triggered several different alarms. The District has since changed the locks preventing any unauthorized access. Do you know if Sheriff volunteer DCS or local amateur radio operators have been accessing the location? It appears that all the equipment (likely a repeater or other comm gear) is now gone. If the site is no longer in use, then it may not be necessary for the City to continue paying for the license agreement. More importantly, if the repeater was used by Sheriff or DCS, then there will be a gap since the equipment was removed. Please advise when you have a moment. Thanks!
