Begin forwarded message: From: Ryan Kittell - NOAA Federal <ryan.kittell@noaa.gov> Date: December 16, 2022 at 1:16:51 PM PST To: undisclosed-recipients:; Subject: NWS Los Angeles Christmas Holiday Outlook Greetings. The previous forecast remains on track for our current offshore wind event. With the Christmas Holiday fast approaching, here is an extended outlook to hopefully help with your planning. Temperatures: * Gradual warming likely Dec 23-26. * High confidence in above normal temperatures, with a chance of several areas reaching 80 degrees. * See attached graphic for the range of temperatures that likely contains the correct Christmas Day max temperature. Humidities: * 80% chance of humidities into the 10-20% range occurring sometime in the Dec 23-26 window. Winds: * 80% chance of N-NE wind gusts at least in the 20-40 mph category in wind prone areas sometime between Dec 23-26. * 20% chance of gusts in the 40-60 mph category. * Uncertain if winds will be more northerly (focused over Santa Barbara County and I-5 Corridor) or northeasterly (focused over LA & Ventura Counties and Santa Lucias). Assessment: * Red Flag weather conditions possible, but Red Flag Warnings highly unlikely due to recent rains and improving fuel conditions. * Small potential for localized wind damage. * Power outages possible. As a reminder, beginning Saturday Dec 17 we will enter the off-season fire weather schedule (one fire weather planning forecast issued by 330 PM Monday through Friday...and by 930 AM on Mondays and/or the first day following any federal holiday). However spot forecasts will be available upon request at any time 24/7. In addition, if critical fire weather conditions occur we will restore normal fire weather season operations. If you have any questions, please do not respond to this email, but call us at 805-988-6626 (unlisted).
