Thank you for your participation in today's call. Here are the summary notes:
RED FLAG WARNING FOR THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY MOUNTAINS I-5 CORRIDOR TO LAKE HUGHES 1PM FRIDAY TO 6AM SATURDAY
ELEVATED TO BRIEF CRITICAL CONDITIONS THROUGH SATURDAY OVER MOUNTAINS AND INTERIOR VALLEYS
THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY:
* Winds: West to North Gusts 25-35 mph.
* Winds focused over many mountains and interior valleys, afternoon through night hours.
* Isolated gusts 35 to 45 mph over strongest areas
* Including I-5 Corridor (peak Thu through Fri Nights), Antelope Valley (peak Thu & Fri afternoons), and West Santa Ynez Range (peak Fri and Sat evenings).
* Humidity: Minimums 6-12% mountains and warmest valleys.
* These low humidities are possible over the western Santa Ynez Range and foothills.
* Poor overnight recoveries 12-25% mountains and interior valley hills, lowest Friday Night.
* Temperatures: Highs 95-105 most valleys and lower mountains.
* Hottest on Thursday and Friday. 5-10 degrees above normal.
* Overnight lows: 60-70 common, except 70-78 common foothills and deserts.
* High mixing heights 10,000-15,000 feet mountains & interior valleys.
* Coastal sections: Highs 75-85. Shallow but present marine layer with locally dense fog.
* Fuels:
* Live fuels are at or near critical, generally 55-70%.
* 10hr dead fuels at critical, generally 4-7% with little change expected into next week.
* Assessment:
* Elevated fire weather conditions for most valleys and mountains.
* 3-6 hours of critical conditions likely over windiest mountains and interior valleys each day,
* Especially Thursday afternoon through Friday Night
* Possibly including the West Santa Ynez Range.
* 6-8 hours of critical conditions likely I-5 Corridor to Lake Hughes Friday and Friday Night
* Red Flag Warning 1pm Friday to 6am Saturday.
* Any new fire starts likely will result in extreme fire behavior
OUTLOOK (SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY):
* Slight improvement but still warm and dry over mountains and interior valleys.
* Winds shift to more seasonal southwest to northwest onshore direction, less north winds and Sundowners.
* Elevated fire weather conditions over the mountains and interior valleys.
