The National Weather Service in Los Angeles / Oxnard will NOT be holding a fire weather conference call today, but wanted to update you on the thunderstorm and flooding threat FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 10PM TODAY OVER THE LA COUNTY MOUNTAINS AND ANTELOPE VALLEY A slowly moving low pressure system just off the coast will continue to bring moisture and unstable air over southwest California through Wednesday. This will result in a threat for thunderstorms and flooding. Details Through Wednesday: Mountains and deserts: 20-40% chance of thunderstorms * Highest chances between 12pm and 8pm. * Highest chances today over LA County, expanding on Wednesday. * Rain rates up to around 1.00 inch/hour possible. * Rates this high can result in flash flooding and debris flows. * Fish and Bobcat burn scars of particular concern. * The threat is not high, but notable. * Flood Watch Statement <https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=lox&issuedby=LOX&product=FFA> * Rain totals will be highly variable and mostly light. * Gusty and erratic downdraft wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph expected with some storms. * Including several miles away from the storm itself.
