Districting Diamond Bar Map<https://www.diamondbarca.gov/Areas/CivicSend/Assets/Uploads/4600/4eb0dd0e1dc242529c1e019dfcff69b3_optimized.jpg> District-Based Council Elections Update Now that the City has completed the process of transitioning from at-large to by-district elections for city council seats, how diamond bar voters elect representatives will change with the upcoming November 2022 election. The newly approved district map divides the city into five geographic areas that are relatively equal in population size, preserve communities of interest, have a contiguous shape, and follow natural boundaries wherever possible as required by law. Under Diamond Bar’s new city council by-district election system, instead of casting votes to fill all five city council seats, Diamond Bar voters will only vote for one City Council candidate living in their district. The change in voting will start with the November 8, 2022 general municipal elections. City Council seats for districts 1, 3, and 4 are up for election in November 2022, with the remaining districts 2 and 5 having elections in November 2024. The new district-based election system will not change how the City Council governs the city, meaning it will continue to serve as one governing body that considers the city as whole when setting policies, adopting laws, and being responsive to community needs and concerns. In the next few weeks, the City will launch a new interactive mapping tool to allow residents to input their address to locate their voting district. Alternatively, a copy of the final district map (public map 124279), is available for viewing and downloading on the Districting webpage at https://www.diamondbarca.gov/1088/Draft-District-Maps.
