Good afternoon,
There will be no fire weather call today, but here are updated notes on the continued elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions across the interior.
TODAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY
* Winds:
* Southwest to west winds gusting to 30-40 mph mountains and interior valleys with isolated gusts to 50 mph around Lake Palmdale (strongest winds across Antelope Valley, adjacent foothills,
and through the I-5 and Highway 14 corridors)
* Strongest at lower elevations during the afternoon and evening hours Monday and Tuesday
* Expanding to higher elevations Monday night through Wednesday
* Weak sundowner winds gusting 20-30 mph western Santa Ynez range tonight
* Humidity:
* Min humidities lowering to 15-30% the higher valleys to coastal slopes
* Very dry air in place across the Antelope Valley and higher mountain peaks: 5-15% with poor overnight humidity recoveries
* Temperatures:
* Hot temperatures in 90s to 105 interior valleys and foothills (hottest Antelope Valley)
* Hottest through Monday
* Very warm overnight temperatures in the 70s over the foothills
* Assessment:
* Elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions each afternoon and evening in the windiest and driest across portions of Southwest California
* Active wildfires and grass fires possible across interior
OUTLOOK: THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY
* Continued very dry conditions across the interior each day with minimum humidities 5-20%, lowest Antelope Valley and higher mountain peaks
* Heat building back in across interior with high temperatures in the warmest valleys and interior in the 90s to triple digits
* Gusty sundowner winds returning Thursday or Friday night to western Santa Ynez range
* Potential for monsoon thunderstorm activity over far eastern Los Angeles County Thursday and Friday afternoons
