Subject: NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard Fire Weather Summary Notes - Monday June 20 (NO CALL TODAY)
...CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS AND ISOLATED DRY LIGHTNING LATE TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY...
Fire partners:
There will not be a call today, but wanted to highlight a a couple things over the next week that may pose some fire weather concerns:
TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY (POSSIBLY INTO WEDNESDAY NIGHT)
* Increasing instability and some moisture, mainly aloft from the south leading to a 15-25 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
* If thunderstorms form, there is a chance that some could have little to no rainfall, resulting in isolated dry lightning strikes.
* Mostly just LA/Ventura Counties, but including coast and valleys as well as the interior.
* Will continue to monitor and if the threat looks strong by tomorrow will likely hold a 1pm conference call Tuesday to provide more details.
WEEKEND HEAT WAVE
* Computer models show above normal temperatures continuing into the weekend and into early next week.
* There is potential for very hot temperatures and low humidities, but lower confidence in this at this time.
* Chances for significant wind issues look minimal at this time but elevated fire conditions are possible due to the potential for single digit humidities and 100+ temperatures across
the interior.
