Greetings.
The National Weather Service in Oxnard will NOT be leading a local fire weather coordination call today. Following is an update on expected highlights through early next week.
TODAY (Mountains, Deserts, Valleys):
*** Elevated Fire weather conditions today across mountains, deserts, valleys due to hot and very dry conditions***
* Slight offshore pressure trend creating warmer and drier conditions today
* Max temps 95-105 degrees
* Heat Advisory until 7 pm this evening for LA county mountains/valleys
* Mixing heights of 10,000-15,000 feet across interior this afternoon
* Potential for large vertical plume growth
* Minimum humidities 5-20% (driest in LA county mountains/valleys)
* NW Sundowner wind gusts 35-50 mph (mainly Gaviota to San Marcos Pass) late afternoon through nighttime hours.
* Strongest winds this evening
* Humidity levels expected to remain elevated
OUTLOOK FOR EARLY NEXT WEEK:
* Southeast flow aloft could bring return of monsoonal moisture to mountains/deserts
* Slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms across eastern San Gabriels/Antelope Valley Tuesday-Wednesday
