She was in the process of activating the alarm to close up but returned back into the building and locked the doors. She was alone and quite frightened so she proceeded to call 911. The man did not exit his car but was yelling and hitting his own car with his hand. He stayed for about 5 minutes and started exiting the parking lot, when a pedestrian walking by him stopped and made a beeline towards city hall doors to try to avoid an encounter. Luckily, the man left and both Leonore and the pedestrian were able to leave safely. Anthony Jordan heard from facilities maintenance staff that last evening there was a gentleman in a white suburban that was acting erratically. I spoke with Library staff Yu Ting, who made the 9-1-1 call because the person was apparently hitting his vehicle with a big metal bat or pole. Library staff witnessed him then move his vehicle to the main entrance, and begin lighting a lighter or some liquid, then drive off. I called Deputy Scheller to confirm the call tag. Library staff mentioned they called 9-1-1 around 7:40pm, the call took about 10 minutes, and a Deputy showed up just after 8pm when the Library was closed. However, the person was gone by that point. The Sheriff's Department is aware of the person, whose name is Roger Hamilton. He may have been a resident at some point, was arrested around two weeks ago, and his vehicle was impounded but apparently was released. I will forward any additional information I get on this item. Please inform staff should they feel threatened they can always call the Sheriff's Department using 9-1-1 if an emergency or 909-595-2264 if a non-emergency. Let me know if you have any questions.
