Here are the notes from today's 1 pm call.
...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 1AM SATURDAY THROUGH 10PM SATURDAY FOR THE MOUNTAINS AND SOME COASTS/VALLEYS OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES...
TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY
* Winds: Lingering N-NE gusts 20-30 mph mountains and valleys of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties
* Onshore flow at the coast late this afternoon
* Light winds Friday morning with increasing NE winds by the late afternoon (gusts 15-30 mph)
* Humidity: Mins 10-20%
* Poor overnight recoveries (max 15-30% in windier locations)
* Temperatures: Highs 65-78 today, 63-73 Friday
* Assessment:
* Elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions expected across much of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties
FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY
* Winds: Los Angeles and Ventura Counties: coasts/valleys: N-NE gusts 30-45 mph, mountains: gusts 40-55 mph (isolated 60-70 mph windiest peaks/canyons)
* Strongest late Friday night through Saturday morning
* LAX-DAG gradient peaking around -6 to -7 mb
* Moderate upper-level support (weaker and less widespread than last event)
* Humidity: Some uncertainty in model projections of minimums
* Some models project mins 12-25% on Saturday
* Lower resolution models keep humidities lower
* Humidities stay up around 20-40% Friday evening and gradually lower by mid to late Saturday morning
* Temperatures: Highs 60-72.
* Assessment:
* Moderate confidence in 6+ hours of Red Flag weather conditions over western Los Angeles and much of Ventura County on Saturday
* Good confidence in gusty winds
* Question will be if humidities lower to critical levels and if for 6+ hours
* Best chance for 6+ hours of critical conditions in mountains and windier valleys
* Will keep Fire Weather Watch in tact, will make further decisions on Friday

What healthcare providers should do:
* If healthcare providers identify patients with a rash that looks like monkeypox, consider monkeypox, regardless of whether the patient has a travel history to central or west African
countries.
* Do not limit concerns to men who report having sex with other men. Those who have known close personal contact with people with monkeypox could potentially also be at risk for the
disease.
* Some patients have had genital lesions and the rash may be hard to distinguish from syphilis, herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection, chancroid, varicella zoster, and other more common
infections.
* Isolate any patients suspected of having monkeypox in a negative pressure room, and ensure staff understand the importance of wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
and that they wear it each time they are near suspected cases.
* Standard cleaning/disinfectants may be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
* Report all suspected monkeypox cases to the LA County DPH immediately.
