SUBJECT: AFTER-ACTION REPORT – DIAMOND BARBURGLARY SUPPRESSION
On April 17, 2017, Walnut/Diamond Sheriff Station implemented burglary
suppression overtime in the city of Diamond Bar due to an increase in
residential burglaries. The City of Diamond Bar approved one hundred
and sixty hours of burglary suppression overtime which was divided into
two single person patrol vehicles, six hours a day, five days aweek.
Based on statistical information obtained regarding the increase in
residential burglaries, it was determined the burglary suppression would
be worked Monday through Friday between the hours of 1600-2200 hours.
As of May 16, 2017, one hundred and sixty hours of burglary suppression
overtime had been completed. The following is a summary of the actions
taken by deputy personnel.
Traffic stops conducted – 77
Pedestrian stops conducted – 14
Field Interview Cards completed – 4
Citations issued – 34
Misdemeanor arrests – 15
Deputy personnel who worked the burglary suppression also assisted
Diamond Bar patrol units with residential burglary investigations,
containments, and burglary alarm calls for service.
Between March 16, 2017 and April 16, 2017, Thirty two (32) residential
burglaries occurred inthe City of Diamond Bar (average of1.00 burglaries
per day). Since the implementation of burglary suppression overtime
between the dates of April 17, 2017 and May 16, 2017, twenty four (24)
residential burglaries occurred in the City ofDiamond Bar (average of .82
burglaries per day). Although the residential burglaries continue to
occur, itappears the saturation patrol has reduced the number of
incidents.
Between March 16, 2017 and April 16, 2017, Forty three (43) vehicle
burglaries occurred in the City of Diamond Bar (average of 1.34 vehicle
burglaries per day). Since the implementation of burglary suppression
overtime between the dates of April 17, 2017 and May 16, 2017, twenty
four (24) vehicle burglaries occurred in the City of Diamond Bar (average
of .75 vehicle burglaries per day). Although the vehicle burglaries
continue to occur, it appears the saturation patrol has significantly reduced
the number ofincidents.
As of this date, it appears the burglary suppression overtime has had a
positive impact on residential burglaries.
