Burglary Suppression
The City of Diamond Bar traditionally experiences an increase in burglaries during the holiday
season into the month of January. January usually has the highest number of burglaries
throughout the year. Walnut/Diamond Bar Station implemented a plan to lower burglaries during
the holiday months into January. The plan was to deploy two, one man burglary suppression cars
working six -hour shifts in the City of Diamond Bar. The deployment was determined by the crime
temporal heat index.
The City of Diamond Bar generously agreed to pay overtime to deploy the additional patrol cars in
the field. Extra patrols were provided by Walnut/Diamond Bar Station from January 2, 2024, until
January 31, 2024, on the selected days and time which had the highest amount of burglaries.
In 2023, the City of Diamond Bar had a total of 33 burglaries during the month of January. With
the change with the District Attorney's Office and implemented policies such as Los Angeles
County District Attorney's Special Directive (SD 20-07), criminals which would normally be
incarcerated are now sometimes released on citations and/or criminal charges are not filed.
Even with these obstacles for Law Enforcement, The Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department
Walnut/Diamond Bar Station was able to keep the burglaries at bay in January of 2024, with a total
of 34 burglaries (Residential and Commercial) in the City of Diamond Bar.
